It’s been a mad, strange and stressful year that’s past. It’s odd that something so devastating on such a grand scale as this pandemic has brought about so many positive things as well, such as our coming together more as communities, shopping more locally and supporting our high street shops and local businesses. All those things we’ve been promising to do for years but didn’t really cut it, have finally kicked in.

Whilst many businesses have been financially devastated, sadly forced with closure or making numerous redundancies of staff. Others have boomed and seen more growth than ever before. It’s a strange double edged sword this pandemic.

We worked mainly with the hospitality trade and were hugely affected by the lockdown last March and nothing has changed since then. As long as hospitality remains closed or restricted so does our business. Yet almost one year later and we’re still here and still trading. We’ve had to move quickly and move with what’s happening. So we now offer online shopping and home deliveries, virtual wine tastings via Zoom and Wine&Dine@Home events. We’ve been bowled over by the support we’ve received from old and new customers. We’re thankful to each and everyone of you who has stuck with us or joined us.

From one week to the next, however, we live through utter uncertainty of what is around the corner. We find ourselves in yet another lockdown where our 5 year old son is home from school once more and as working parents we just have to work around it. It’s difficult and challenging to say the least but each and every person around the whole world at the moment is going through their own difficulties, so we we are trying to do the best we can.

In the midst of all this and what was thankfully a busy Christmas season, we found ourselves agreeing to take over Richard Granger Fine Wine Merchants as an online enterprise joining with our own, since the almost cult status shop was closing and the owner, Alastair Stewart hanging up his wine gloves to enjoy retirement.

We’re so excited by the new range of wines we’ll be able to offer our customers as well as the wines we already stock which we can introduce to Richard Granger customers. This means even more exciting possibilities for tastings and events, both virtually and in person when we are able to do so.

There may just be some light at the end of this rather long tunnel.
